River Flow and Water Quality Information

bull shoals damA number of things impact the quality of fishing on the White and Norfork Rivers including the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water and the amount of electricity being generated at the Bull Shoals (see picture at left) and Norfork dams.

The U.S. Corp of Engineers provides online reporting of this information gathered from several different locations along both rivers. Fishermen usually like to check these numbers before heading out on the water.

The best way to get current White River flow information is to call the Corp of Engineers at Bull Shoals Dam: 870-431-5311.

The Corp also offers river flow information online.
You can check the lake levels of the White River system including Bull Shoals & Norfork here:

The agency in charge of electric generation at Bull Shoals Dam (Southwest Power Association) posts predicted generation schedules online, although they aren’t always updated:

You can call for generation information at 417-336-5083 (Beaver & Table Rock dams.)
